Personal Opinion About 'Stop The War and Violence' campaign : The state of our world is one of utter chaos and destruction and it beckons for a voice of change. The world more than ever needs someone to speak up and stand for the fallen. I for one stand for the betterment of humanity and as Miss Grand Australia the 'Stop the War and Violence' campaign means taking a stand to reduce and remove violence both at our doorstep and abroad to stop wars arising or worsening. Peace starts with a voice of reason. Peace starts with you and me.

I was born and raised in Portugal, a country where I had a very happy and adventurous life. I was surrounded by nautical environment since my birth, my father sailed and instigated this interest in me and my brother, traveling by boat every year, to every possible and imaginary destinations, knowing paradisiacal destinations, with colorful fishes and warm seas of the color of the sky . My literacy was all in English since the age of 6, my parents put me to study at St. Julian's School in Carcavelos, a British school with an impressive structure that prepared the students not only for theoretical subjects, but also for arts, sports, music. I was used to riding, swimming, making athletic sports, I had piano lessons, drums, singing and was the lead singer in school presentations. Besides all this academic wealth, we went to Spain almost every year, at the holidays. Spain is a beloved country by me, full of culture and joy. I speak Spanish since childhood because I had a lot of influence of the country's culture. I love the dancing, the food and the people. I also studied in a convent school, the College of São José Ramalhão, located in Sintra, which was a neoclassical palace, and became known as belonged to the Portuguese Crown and was the exile place of Queen Carlota Joaquina. In this college I lived rebel stages of adolescence and met wonderful people. At 16, I came to Brazil due to the death of my father who was Portuguese. My mother's family is Brazilian and was essential to our recovery after the pain of losing a loved one so dear as a father. I already knew Brazil as coming at the holidays since I was a baby, however, I haven't came to Brazil for nine years and had lost close contact with the family. When I returned, I was already a young woman and it was very exciting. I regained my loved family, especially my grandmother who is an amazing woman with a heart bigger than the Earth planet and we always looked after each other with love. In Brazil, I made my high school and started my academic life, attending journalism college which I chose for love, for admiring the communication and the fact that a journalist can get involved in people's lives and especially to count their life stories, so that they can make their mark in the world. Parallel to college, I chose to follow the singer's career. Initially, I was lead singer of a rock band, 'Four Sound' and then started a Live Vocal project that was very important because it made me lose my shyness and made me learn to interact with the public. My life as a model came suddenly through a friend who showed me TK Models agency, whose owner is Wagner Takamori, who welcomed me with open arms from the start, believing in my potential. So I began to prepare myself to become a Miss for one year and a half but I can say it was worth it. Today I am Miss World Mato Grosso do Sul, and most important Miss Grand Brazil with great honor and pride. Personal Opinion About 'Stop The War and Violence' campaign : In my opinion, the campaign Stop The War and Violence is extremely important. Especially in the time that we live in, where there is no tolerance and humanity. We live in a world in which people are killed by religions and races. A movement that is in favor of peace and fights against all forms of violence and hostility is crucial. We must think of future generations and what they will face if we continue acting selfishly, focused only on consumerism. We have to fight for the disadvantaged and the war refugees so that we have a just world that offers quality of life for all mankind. We have to educate and support children and young people equally, giving chance to all. Wars are decided by the governments but are affecting civilians and killing innocents. I truly believe that governments must do everything in their power to protect their people by encouraging dialog. However, violence also surrounds us in everyday life. Many forms of violence exist in the streets and houses of my country: domestic violence, child abuse, moral violence etc. I'm convinced that every type of violence can be avoided thanks to education which is a good way to learn how human life must be respected. If we teach young children the value of respect they will grow up as responsible and caring adults that's why education is the way to raise the future leaders of the world. That future leaders need to do everything possible to keep good relationships with foreign countries and use dialog to prevent any type of conflict. If leaders are ready to negociate, they can settle the conflicts and avoid the dramatic consequences of the war. Oh dear, in the pursuit of our share, Have we abandoned care? It’s about time mankind realises God’plan? It was to establish peace, that He created Man. Have you ever wondered, why does war occur? For selfish motives of some individuals to gain power? Or countries clambering to reach the top? For oil, resources and money? Or is it our culture and religion that instead of uniting us, tears us apart? Whatever the reason, it is disastrous. Thousands of lives are lost each time a hideous war occurs. When we put ourselves in the situation of losing a parent or sibling, we will realise the pain. When we are deprived of basic needs of life, we will know the suffering of a refugee. As Miss Grand Jamaica, my Stop the War Campaign (Stop the War: Cheer for Peace 2016) focuses on teaching children from crime prone and less fortunate schools and communities the importance of showing love, respect, patience and tolerance to everyone around us. Working closely with some of the best Cheerleading teams on the Island, I engage children in cheers and chants that promote anger management and saying no to violence. Ever since I can remember I would see children knocking on the car window asking for pocket change. When I was 6 years old, my father died in a place crash, leaving my widowed mother with 4 children to care for. These are two things that have left a mark in my life. As a widow, my mother always motivated my siblings and me to take advantage of our education, that education was a necessity in order to create opportunities in life. She also taught us that not everyone had this advantage. From her, I learned to be strong and move forward in any situation you face in life, as well as to be independent. Living in a third world country taught me to be humble, and to grasp the fact that I was very fortunate. Throughout highschool I was very involved in community service, from working in environmental projects, to providing cancer relief for children, to visiting food kitchens and senior homes. I was always very adventurous as well and up for any challenge. During my university years, my vacations varied from working at summer camps (I always enjoyed activities with children), to traveling in volunteer groups and adventure tours. I graduated Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Degree in Communications focused in Public Relations. Since I can remember, I have always wanted to set up my own Non-Profit Organization, however, I know that for every project we need to start with baby steps. My first step was working as a Teacher in a Kindergarten. I learned a lot from children, specially patience. After 3 years as a Teacher, I was ready for my next step. I decided to run for Miss Nicaragua. Being a public figure was a good way to carry out ideas and be heard. I was third runner up, but in my heart, I knew all candidates were winners for all the energy and love we put into the pageant. I still do community service with APROQUEN, that helps children in the burnt unit, in a dispensary, and as volunteer for any events for other Non-profits. Through this, I am able to learn about organizations that will eventually give me all the knowledge I need to open up my own. One is called empowered women, about women who have followed their dreams and succeded, women who have their own organization, and any woman who can serve as an inspiration to others. Personal Opinion About 'Stop The War and Violence' campaign : I have always imagined a world where everyone lives in love, peace and equality.Unfortunately we live in a world filled with chaos, anger and violence, which has lead to loss of lives, family's broken and the demise of countries. I believe this can change if we abandon negative emotions such as hate, anger and self centered pride rather embrace love and embrace effective communication which I believe is the solution to end any form of violence that will lead to war.

Basados en respeto y tolerancia se puede evitar muchas acciones bélicas y campañas de violencia que solo generan crisis humanas y no hacen bien a una sociedad sino al contrario solo a pocos y por intereses particulares. Si hablamos de armas que nos hacen daño, deberían mejor hablar de armas como las ideológicas basadas en la educación, llenas de valores y principios ya que no estamos hablando de guerra sino de ser un buen soldado de un país, trabajando arduamente, haciendo bien las cosas y comprometiéndose a combatir problemas más serios como el hambre, la corrupción, la inseguridad; en pro de una sociedad y un mundo mejor. When we would look through all the centuries since humans evolved to an intelligent being, we could notice that they were always fighting for food, territory, or other valuable items. And despite this huge amount of time, I have and impression that we learned nothing. We can count only a few years without war on our planet. And unfortunately it is caused because of a human nature. People have a need of gain. With all those years passed only a need of what to gain has changed. But the rule remained. We want to have a more wealthy life. The most cruel part is that a lot of people are pursuing this wealthness without looking at consequences. And this provides to using violence and in extreme cases to wars. So our duty is to show to the World this uncomfortable truth. An enormous amount of innocent people suffers because of someone's ambition, or lack of tollerance. It includes people being just in a wrong place, that did nothing wrong and also soldiers. They are called heroes, who they truly are, but in many cases they are forced to kill and use violence. And that makes them victims too. So is it worth to make so many people suffer? Of course not and we have to show it.

We cannot stop the war but an end to war is an ideal of freedom, peace, and harmony within us all. It is our responsibility domestically and internationally to rid the world of conflict and focus our efforts on improving the quality of life for all humanity.

The reason for this is because, in my opinion, the greatest cause for war and violence is a lack of understanding and compassion for those who are different from us. Our school systems are designed to teach us primarily of our own cultures and often lack comprehension of international affairs, which are becoming more and more relevant as our methods of transportation and global communication continue to advance. Promoting study abroad programs would subsequently allow us and our future generations to gain a more extensive world view. This way, we can better understand other cultures and why they behave the way they do. This will also serve to create international friendships, therefore international unity. Due to an overwhelming amount of negative news, it is easy to become desensitized to the fact that, every single day, many innocent lives are affected by war and violence. However, when war or violence strikes closer to home, it becomes a tragedy rather than a statistic. The victims of war and violence become those we feel sympathetic towards, rather than simply a number that contributes to a death toll. We, the privileged who have the opportunity to attend dignified events like Miss Grand International are in the spotlight, therefore at the forefront of those who are able to make a difference. So let us stand upon the platform Miss Grand International provides us with and use our collective voices to make positive change in the world. We gave them food parcels and helped them clean their homes after the floods. Also, I volunteered every week for 5 years for the Uk Charity 'Citizens Advice Bureau'. Here I was trained to provide people with free legal advice and advice on problems like family and relationships advice, debts, immigration, and people's rights. I also support the Uk Charity 'Help for Hero's' campaign. Help for Heros support soldiers in the United Kingdom who come back after being at war. They may suffer from limb amputations as a result of war, they may have mental health issues after being to countries of war and war torn lands. I support them by raising money to help and visiting their homes. I am committed to the Stop The War and Violence Campaign in my spare time, spreading a message of awareness and peace to all. Personal Opinion About 'Stop The War and Violence' campaign : 'Stop The War and Violence' campaign promotes an ideology that we as human beings aspire to and one which we strive to deliver, namely to promote a universal message of peace. The pace at which peace is fast disappearing from the world today has caused each sane and sensible person to worry. It includes those who believe in a God and atheists who deny the very existence of God. Whatever their personal beliefs, they all have valid concerns about peace. Wars between nations have increasingly given way to wars within nations. The resurgence of ethnic or sectarian conflicts, the growth of secessionist movements, insurgencies and failed states have increasingly trapped civilians in unending chaos. In today's wars, many more civilians are killed than soldiers; therefore the seeds of future conflict are sown, economies are wrecked, civil societies torn apart, refugees amassed and children scarred for life. Governments go to war to fight only for our rights, but the common theme is that they neglect the rights of other people in the process, therefore we can never establish peace. In short, to establish true peace, we must understand the spirit of true justice. Today, there is no definitive solution to the problems of war and attaining peace. What we do know is that meeting the challenges to find a resolve will require the aligned vision of all nations, hard work and persistence of all men and women. It will require us to think in new ways about the notions of just war and the imperatives of a just peace. As a start, peace comes from being able to personally contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are. Let us focus on a more practical, more attainable peace, based not on a sudden revolution in human nature but on a gradual evolution in human actions and mindsets. | |
